Join the Dooodolls Design Creative Team during this upcoming festive season from putting together ideas to overcoming hassles in order to build up the perfect window display at Malaysia Publishing House (MPH) Bookstore in Midvalley, Kuala Lumpur.

Papier Mache has been a buried passion for our Dooodolls designer, Darren Chen, who has been immersed in the captivating world of paper crafts since his adolescence as he aced every art project. What fascinates him about Papier Mache is the limitless creativity it generates and the satisfaction he gets when the effort is put forth, no matter what the end result is.

The other advantage of making Papier Mache as the theme of this Christmas window display is he doesn’t have to play ducks and drakes for purchasing exquisite decorative; instead he will have a time of his life constructing Papier Mache out of the Dooodolls characters by using discarded card boxes, used paper, wires and newspapers.

With the help of two of his devoted creative teammates, Yea Ting and Poh Koon, they started putting in elbow grease to come out with inspirational ideas to acclimate with the literate-cultured atmosphere. Initially, they came up with the idea of a Reddish Twin, a snowy Christmas tree, a reindeer, and a bench for the main subjects of the Papier Mache project.

First off, the architecture of the Papier Mache Reddish Twin is based on a wire armature of the bloated version of a normal Reddish Twin.

By the looks of it, we should give some thumbs up for the commitment and determination they’ve exhibit through the tough process of completing the task.

After the bone structure is done, the Papier Mache is only a quarter of completion, as what’s coming up is to glue layers of torn newspaper thoroughly and repetitively until the substantial look of the Papier Mache is formed. Before coating and lacquering the Papier Mache with enamel paints, the team padded it with used white paper.

A bench for the Dooodolls to rest their feet on is being materialized by card boxes and tons of duct tape to merge the artificial planks. To top it off, they covered the bench with white paper and, in the twinkling of an eye it’s up to be in the running.

Given the limited time, the team has come up with an intriguing window display that lightens up the little corner of MPH bookstore, Mid Valley.
