WELCOME TO THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF DOOODOLLS™
It’s a classic story: what began as a mere hobby expanded into a full-fledged business.

The brainchild of Malaysian graphic designer, Darren Chen, Dooodolls™ founded in 2004. With the help of partners ,business has expanded exponentially. While Chen is the chief designer and creative director of Dooodolls™ Chew and Ong are in charge of the business side of the company.

This Malaysian-born company is seeing success not just on our own shores; the dolls made such a hit at the yearly toy fair in Germany & Hong Kong that a few foreign companies snapped them up. As such, Dooodolls™ now also available in parts of Asia, Europe and the United States.

Each and every Dooodolls™ skillfully hand-stitched to perfection. With 17 different designs and more to be introduce, each doll is uniquely named and boasts an even more unique character.  They do, nonetheless, share a few common traits—they are all adorable and friendly, but ever-so-slightly naughty and mischievous. Just don’t take them too seriously!

 

Profile – Darren Chen
Darren Chen certainly has no qualms about playing with dolls. He may be a graphic designer by day and moonlights as a yoga teacher by night, but his heart is entirely with Dooodolls™.

Chen’s passion for doll-making started in 2003, beginning with just bits and pieces of old blankets. It all started, of course, from his love of drawing; a passion so great that he wanted to bring his creations to live, and to share them with friends and loved ones.

The dolls were a big hit with Chen’s friends and family. Everyone loved it and wanted more—in different colours, different materials, different sizes. The demands were overwhelming, yet encouraging, and it prompted Chen to seriously consider transforming his favourite hobby into a full-fledged as a business.

Transform it did, and today, Dooodolls™ has a team of sales, marketing and operations to keep the company running smoothly as Chen takes the helm of Creative Director.

He especially adores BlurBlur for his alien-like features, but according to Chen, Missy Micey best represents him in terms of looks and demeanour! As such, all the dolls are inspired one way or another by the people around him. “Every Dooodoll™ is created with a special character, and this inherently highlights the unique personalities of people that I personally know and love,” says Chen.

Never one to rest on his laurels, Chen is a man who believes in expanding one’s mind and creativity…anywhere, everywhere. And his vision for Dooodolls™ is long term. He wants to develop Dooodolls™ into a brand—with lots of lifestyle products that are just as fun and quirky as the Dooodolls™!

 

The Dooodolls Story ….
It all began at Dooo High School. It was a place where Dooodolls™ trained. They trained to utilize their powers to the maximum; they trained to be the best. It was a place where students discovered their true selves.

The new semester at school saw the usual posse—Beary, Blinky, Blur Blur, Cupido, Charco, Cocoman, Orange Butch, Pinkie Pirate, Mr. Nerdie, Numero, Ninja and Missy Micey—up to their infamous antics. After all, they were well known for pulling pranks…and just generally becoming nuisances to others .
